Sacrifice eBook Jorge Silva Reviews
Sacrifice may be classified as a young adult novel but is so much more. Inside its pages is a story that’s riveting and encasing; the writing is resounding and the characters stick with you long after the last page has been read.
Through the rich text readers have the opportunity to visit multiple realms and realities and follow a story with traditional/historical roots mixed with new complexities – none of it is exactly what you expect it to be. There are many revelations about creation, humanity, the soul, love, and of course, sacrifice. The reader’s thinking is challenged around each bend regarding what we believe and know to be true. Does anything truly exist as we think we see/know it? The answer is revealed based on how we view the idea of preservation and where the reader finds light in the dark.
Just beware, something else might be stirring.
Wow! Just wow! This book was a lovely quick read for me, and adults will enjoy reading it before they give it to their teens. Thought-provoking, and thoughtful, discussion of the tale could be beneficial. (I can't wait for my husband to read it, so we can talk about it!)
The story of 15-year old Gabriel and his adventures with angels, Heaven and Hell, and Yahweh vs Lucifer will enthrall the reader, keeping the pages flipping. None of your pre-conceived notions of those things are true in this tale... be prepared to think. As a YA novel, I highly recommend it for teens and grown adults.
Jorge Silva Rodighiero writes in clear, concise language. With imaginative descriptions, it must be AMAZING in the original Spanish! I look forward to his next book. If it's anything as clever as "Sacrifice" it'll be a winner too!
Honored to have read this book in the pre-release version and again several times since. I am now starting on this newly available print version so I can hold it in my hands to read it. I love this story! I'm giving copies to my kids and friends for the Holidays, so many people I know of all ages will enjoy this wonderful tale..
Beginning as a journey through the eyes of a 15 year old boy named Gabriel we travel with him through his unexpected contact with the Angelic realms. The story unfolds as he is thrust into a mysterious world where all he has come to know begins to unravel and reveal a hidden truth about why we are here and how we began.
Through engaging dialogue and relatable characters, Jorge reveals Gabriel's tale as he uncovers new understanding about what makes us human, what it means to love, and asks us all to re-examine the sacrifices we make for, and with one another, to honor and preserve that Love in ourselves and the greater Universe.
Through the story of Gabriel and his companions we are drawn into a mission to save a world and it’s inhabitants from an unknowable and unspeakable force that threatens to destroy everything that he, and all of creation has known and has come to hold dear.
Sacrifice is a novel that takes the traditional Christian origin story and turns it 90 degrees, giving us a look through new, more magnificent lens, and opens doors to a unique vision of our place within creation and all that lies beyond our human perceptions. By framing the world as he has Jorge Silva Rodighiero has given us a relatable, nuanced tale that will intrigue, delight and reframe everything you may have considered possible in this world, and the next.
I really enjoyed this book.
The story handles good vs evil in an wonderfully unexpected way. And even though we meet angels (and other mythological creatures) the characters feel very human, and they are relatable.
I'd recommend the story for young readers, for adults, for agnostics, for atheists, for religious people, for all y'all ;)
I really enjoyed Mr. Silva's book. It took me by surprise and captured my heart for a novel look at an old story. I highly recommend it!
If you like reading about otherworldly realms, you'll love this novel! It raises thought provoking questions all the while being a thoroughly entertaining read.
The premise for this supernatural fantasy is unique and full of surprises. I love complex characters, so I wish we got more details of Gabriel's characterization, especially since the main plot revolves around him discovering and coming to terms with who and what he is. The translation is oddly formal in places, and I wish that the dialog were more natural-sounding, but I still really enjoyed the story and reveled in all the suspense. ) In places it reminds me of William Blake, which is a high compliment!
